momentum with new 2007 version.
Phoenix, September 04, 2007- In another landmark MSI announced that the Place Point POS system has been installed in over 50 sites. The 2007 version includes simplified navigation including delicious graphics and intuitive modifiers. Using a configuration menu the property can now use suggestive sell on items in self service, the system automatically reviews the order in progress to soft sell beverages, sides or dessert with a simple navigation. The system provides a rolling total, recalculating amounts as new items are added. A feature for grab and go allows a site to track items for replenishment, such as in a display case.
The Place Point system is a Retail Point of Sale system with an intuitive user interface that fully integrates with MSI WinPM system. Guests can order items using secured information encoded on a track of their room key (specially encoded for this purpose), or a credit card to purchase food or beverages in the lobby. The merging group of business travelers has a comfort level with hands on technology, commented Teresa Galler, VP of Corporate Communications for MSI. Sleek graphics presented in an intuitive way allows the hotel more opportunity for impulse purchasing that will have an impact on food sales of the properties using this type of technology.
Some installations use the Place Point Retail version on the same workstation as the front desk, allowing the front desk clerk to take orders for bar or coffee bar items, or to send orders to printers located in the kitchen or other areas. â€œThe agile development best practices introduced to MSI early this year allowed MSI to make huge changes quickly and efficiently for this product, said David Kantrud, MSI VP of Software Engineering. Place Point to be featured at the IHMRS in New York
MSI plans to highlight the product at the upcoming International Hotel Motel Restaurant show in New York in November.
