If James Bond had a mini-bar… it would probably look something like this. Picture a luxurious, hand-crafted dresser built of solid hardwood. Sounds ordinary enough so far, right? Well, just wait until it transforms itself into the extraordinary. Antigua Furniture’s new Aficionado Dresser (to be unveiled November 11th at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show in New York City) offers Bond-like sophistication while reinventing the hotel mini-bar as a luxury experience.

With the simple touch of a remote control, a flat-screen television silently rises from the top of the Aficionado Dresser to perfect viewing height. Next, the front cabinet doors are opened to reveal the finest in VIP accoutrements. A wine selection of up to nine bottles gives distinguished hotel guests their preference among varietals and vintages. Just below the wine storage area sits a built-in, state of the art cigar humidor boasting a collection of fine tobaccos. To the right are adjustable shelves that can be configured to house a fully stocked bar as well as racks for snacks and all the appropriate stemware.

The right side of the Aficionado Dresser even comes with a compartment that is refrigerator-ready and can house a wine chiller or a standard hotel refrigerator for sodas, bottled water and mixers. On the left side, the piece gets back to its roots as an heirloom piece of furniture as three generous dresser drawers crafted of Spanish cedar slide open effortlessly on their precision-made, wood-on-wood glides. While this is definitely a sophisticated furniture piece worthy of Monsieur Bond, it also is a very practical one that fills a specific need in the marketplace.

Antigua’s Aficionado Dresser was born at the behest of several high-end hospitality clients looking to take their in-room selection to an entirely new level. Scott Bogart, the head of operations at Antigua Furniture explains, “While today’s hotel guests can readily get hundreds of channels on their television set, when it comes to selecting a bottle of wine from the mini-bar, their choices are usually limited to one… and as for cigars, it’s usually zero. Guests at luxury hotels worldwide are more sophisticated than ever these days and the competition for such clients can be fierce. With that in mind, we created our new Aficionado Dresser (Bar-TV Lift-Humidor-Wine Storage) to help savvy hoteliers cater to a clientele that wants more choices and wants them in an attractive package. I think we have achieved exactly that with this piece.”

A sample of Antigua’s extensive selection of hand-crafted, solid hardwood beds, armoires, dining and occasional pieces will be on display in the Luxury Products Collection (Space #3944) at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show this November 11-13th at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, NYC.

Antigua Furniture manufactures inspired, upscale furniture of uncompromising quality cloaked in romantic appeal. The weight, the scale, the sturdiness, the hand of each piece attests to the fact that behind each offering from Antigua is a dedicated craftsman.
